Namaste Nomad has just returned from one of its favourite trekking locations in Europe: the Picos de Europa in the north of Spain. We completed two consecutive seven-day trips, one from 28th June to 5th July with 12 people and another from 5th July to 12th July with 11 people. It was an amazing trip for everyone involved and we are very glad to have been part of these enthusiastic groups.
The Picos de Europa is a marvellous mountain range in Spain. It is characterised by what is known as “green Spain” on one side and a high dry plateau on the interior, the maritime and continental climates creating dramatic scenery of light and cloud. Unspoilt by tourism, the Picos de Europa remain rich with tradition as well as unique flora and fauna, which, along with the brown bear, are protected within the national park.
We were pleased to welcome 23 people on this trek this year. In order to have a more intimate experience, the group was divided into two smaller groups of 12 and 11 people of diverse nationalities, ages and backgrounds. Both groups were wonderfully high energy – we enjoyed the happy and funny mood prevalent in both groups as we shared our high and lows together. We are deeply pleased that everyone really loved the trek.
We would like to thank everyone involved in making this trip and these two treks so successful. We especially thank all 23 participants for giving us greater hope and confidence (and a lot of laughs). Thanks to Lorcan McBride from Far and Wild for helping bring this trip together and for trusting us – you are a great person and we are keen to share more future adventures with Far and Wild.
This trip to Picos de Europa of 2017 was very successful and we look forward to further trips to Picos de Europa as well as the Basque Country between June and August 2018. We are now preparing for a trip to the Himalaya between September and December 2017. Check the Namaste Nomad website to choose your desired destination and secure your space as soon as possible. We are excited to have you join our group adventures!
Thanks again to everyone involved from team NOMAD.
