One more adventure around one of the world’s most spectacular mountain ranges
Experience one of Europe’s most iconic long-distance hikes on our 9-day guided Tour du Mont Blanc trek. Journey through the spectacular Alps of France, Italy and Switzerland, crossing high mountain passes, walking beside glaciers and staying in traditional mountain accommodation. Namaste Nomad offers small-group departures in September, as well as private and customised Tour du Mont Blanc trips for hiking clubs and groups of friends.
The classic Tour du Mont Blanc circles the Mont Blanc massif through France, Italy and Switzerland, covering roughly 170 km with around 10,000 metres of cumulative ascent and descent on the full route. It is one of Europe’s great long-distance trekking experiences. Our itinerary is designed as an exciting 9-day mountain adventure, balancing challenging days on the trail with time to enjoy the landscapes, mountain villages and the unique atmosphere of the Alps.
Three countries. Nine days. One incredible adventure.
Imagine waking up in the mountains, putting on your boots and setting out on a trail surrounded by dramatic alpine scenery.
Over the course of the trek, you can experience:
- Spectacular views of the Mont Blanc massif and its famous glaciers
- Beautiful alpine valleys, rivers and traditional mountain villages
- High mountain passes with unforgettable panoramic views
- The unique experience of trekking across France, Italy and Switzerland
- Italian food and mountain hospitality after a long day on the trail
- Swiss valleys and peaceful alpine scenery
- Legendary peaks including the Grandes Jorasses, Dent du Géant and many other spectacular summits surrounding the route
- The satisfaction of completing one of the world’s most famous multi-day treks
The Tour du Mont Blanc is demanding, but that is part of what makes it special. Every climb brings a new view. Every pass feels like an achievement. And every day brings you deeper into the heart of the Alps.
The route reaches high mountain terrain, with iconic passes including Col de la Seigne at 2,516 metres and Grand Col Ferret at 2,537 metres on the classic circuit. Good fitness, suitable hiking equipment and preparation are essential for enjoying the trek safely.
Why we choose September
We do not normally organise our Tour du Mont Blanc group departures during July and August.
These months are the busiest part of the summer season, when the route and accommodation can become particularly crowded. September gives us the opportunity to experience the mountains later in the main trekking season, when the atmosphere can be quieter while conditions can still be excellent, depending on weather and mountain conditions.
The main hiking season generally runs from late June into early or mid-September, with trail and weather conditions changing significantly as the season progresses. High mountain terrain should always be treated with respect, and our itinerary may need to adapt to weather, trail conditions or other safety considerations.
For us, September is about enjoying the mountains at a different pace: cooler days, beautiful autumn light, changing colours and, hopefully, a little more space to appreciate the incredible landscape around us.
A few tips before joining the adventure
The Tour du Mont Blanc is suitable for hikers who are prepared for several consecutive days of mountain walking. You do not need technical mountaineering equipment for the standard trekking route, but you should take the challenge seriously.
Before joining us, we recommend:
- Train before the trip. Build your walking fitness with regular hikes, including hills and longer days.
- Wear proper hiking boots. Make sure they are comfortable and already broken in.
- Bring trekking poles if you use them. They can be particularly useful on long ascents and descents.
- Prepare for all weather. Mountain weather can change quickly, even during summer.
- Pack smart. Layers, waterproof clothing, sun protection and a comfortable daypack are essential.
- Respect the mountains. The weather always has the final say, and flexibility is part of any real mountain adventure.
- Come with a sense of adventure. There will be challenging climbs, tired legs and unpredictable moments—but also views and memories that cannot be experienced from a hotel window.
Our final 2026 group departure — but we will be back
This will be Namaste Nomad’s final Tour du Mont Blanc group trek for 2026.
But if you cannot join us this year, the adventure is not over.
We are planning another group departure in September next year, giving more hikers the opportunity to experience this extraordinary journey around the Mont Blanc massif.
We also organise private and customised trekking trips for hiking clubs, groups of friends and other private groups. If your group would like to trek the Tour du Mont Blanc on your own preferred dates, get in touch with us and we can discuss creating a trip around your group’s requirements.
Whether you are a hiking club looking for your next big European adventure or a group of friends wanting to challenge yourselves together, we can help organise an unforgettable mountain journey.
