Visiting Sikkim

Sikkim General Information

Located in Northeast India bordering Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, and the Indian state of West Bengal, Sikkim and near by Darjeeling are renowned for their breathtaking mountain scenery which includes the world’s third highest peak, Khangchendzonga, straddling the Sikkim Nepal border.   Sikkim’s long history linking the Indian subcontinent with the Tibetan plateau has served to shape its culture identity, and to this day the region remains a unique blend of Tibetan Buddhism and Hinduism.  Whether you are cultural coinsure or and outdoor enthusiast we will be happy to work with you in order to tailor a Sikkimese experience for you or your group’s specific interest, whether it be trekking, cycling, or jeep touring.  We also arrange a 16 day tour all inclusive tour of Calcutta, Darjeeling, and Sikkim.  To book your adventure or find out more contact us today.

Sikkim is a trekker’s paradise, with both high altitude treks through amazing alpine scenery to please the altitude junkie and less strenuous culturally based trekking routes through traditional villages and historic monasteries for those who prefer more leisurely and culturally orientated trekking experience.  We can arrange treks in Sikkim as well as nearby Darjeeling in West Bengal. **New Treks & Tours *DZONGRI TREK (11 DAYS) *SIKKIM JEEP TOUR 1 (10 DAYS) *SIKKIM JEEP TOUR 2 (8 DAYS) Established trekking routes include: Yuksom to Goecha La (8-10 days) This trek ascends quickly from the beautiful historic settlement of Yuksom at 1780 m through rhododendron forests to high altitude alpine scenery.  There are various view points along the trail that offer incredible views of Khangchendzonga and surrounding peaks.  The climax of the trek is the vista from the 4940 m pass known as the Goecha La.  From here Khangchendzonga is framed in the pass appearing close enough to reach out and touch through the thin mountain air. Pelling to Tashiding via Khecheopalri Lake (4-5 days) This trek often called the “Monastic Trek” takes the trekker through some of the most historically significant Monasteries of Sikkim, offering the visitor an intimate glimpse of the Sikkimese version of Lamaism and life in traditional villages. In addition to these treks we can organize other treks in the region upon request tailored specifically to the interests of our clients.  On all of our treks we provide a highly trained and knowledgeable guide, all camping facilities, cooks and porters when required, permits when applicable, and everything to make your Sikkim trekking experience and unforgettable and highly rewarding adventure.
If you prefer the convenience of motor powered transportation we can also arrange jeep tours throughout Sikkim, including the spectacular alpine scenery of north Sikkim.  Contact us so that we may work with you to develop an itinerary that suits your needs and interests, or to book our  16 day tour all inclusive tour of Calcutta, Darjeeling, and Sikkim.
