Each day, we’ll explore stunning French, Italian, and Swiss trails, with all food, transport, accommodation, and an outstanding guide taken care of.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Chamonix

Day 1 of our special hiking tour is reserved for arriving and settling in. Please ensure you reach Chamonix by 6 pm, as you’ll meet your guide and the group at the Residence. After the gathering, we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner at Le Monchu at 7 pm. Then, a good night’s sleep awaits as we prepare for the adventure ahead!

Day 2: Émosson — Traces of Dinosaurs

We’ll kick off the trip by stepping through history and hiking the geological trail of old Émosson, with panoramic views and traces of dinosaurs dating back 240 million years. Departing from the VerticAlp funicular, we’ll head to Lake Émosson and walk along it for about 1.5 km (1 mile). Then, we’ll proceed towards Gorge de la Veudale, where spectacular views await, followed by the famous dinosaur footprints site. We’ll return via Vieux Émosson Lake, finishing the hike at the top of the Émosson Dam. We’ll learn about glaciers, their melting, and the environmental context before returning to Chamonix.

Day 3: Haut-Cordon Panoramic Circuit

Day 3 is for a beautiful, 10.5-kilometer (6.5 miles) loop hike near Cordon in Haute-Savoie. We’ll appreciate the whole massif from afar and move into the pre-Alps area. Your guide will share insights about the valley, the times of settlement, and its growth in popularity. We’ll avoid the crowds on this moderately challenging route, enjoying otherworldly views before retreating back to Chamonix for the night.

Day 4: Lac de Pormenaz

Today, we’ll hike to Lake Pormenaz. Starting from Route de la Côte, we’ll walk towards Gorges de la Diosaz, crossing the Souay torrent. We’ll ascend, leaving the paths of the Tête de la Fontaine and the Bajulaz on the right, then follow a long, steep slope to a pyramid marker, reaching the Chalets des Alpages de Pormenaz. We’ll continue to the Chalets de Chavanne-Neuve and the peak Pointe Noire de Pormenaz, discovering geological curiosities before reaching Lac de Pormenaz.

Day 5: Val Ferret — Courmayeur

Today’s trail takes us to the Bonatti Circuit and Val Veny. Enjoy an Aperol Spritz with a view of Grand Jorasses at the Bonatti hut, named after the legendary Italian mountaineer. We’ll spend a leisurely afternoon in Courmayeur’s downtown, sampling local Focaccia and gelato. After taking in a stunning panorama of Chamonix, we’ll return to our accommodation in Chamonix.

Day 6: Col de la Fenêtre — Les Contamines

Starting from Col de la Fenêtre, we’ll explore Les Contamines-Montjoie—the only Nature Reserve in Mont Blanc! We’ll enjoy quintessential Alpine scenery and visit the charming village of Les Contamines-Montjoie, with its historic architecture and Baroque churches. Over 70% of the old farmhouses have been renovated to honor the typical Savoyard style. We’ll then return to Chamonix.

Day 7: Flégère to Montroc via Lac Blanc

Our final hiking day takes us past the massive Bossons Glacier, the Needles of Chamonix, Vallée Blanche, and Les Drus, towards the seracs of the Argentière Glacier, ending in Montrose. We’ll traverse nature reserves, learning about their historical significance as gaming reserves and their protection efforts. We’ll return via the Planpraz telecabine and then take a train from Montroc to Chamonix. Enjoy your last evening in this charming town.

Day 8: Departure

It’s time to say goodbye to Mont Blanc and the Chamonix area. If you’d like to extend your stay, your guide will happily provide recommendations.
