Yuksom is a nice small hill town in West Sikkim away from the chaos of cities. Yuksum is the starting point of our trek. You will be meeting all your guides, porters and your trek permit will be issued here. If you have one extra day it always good to spend a day here before starting the trek.

After breakfast starts the Goechala trek to reach Sachen of trekking to reach Sachen approx 7 Kms through thick forest. The trekking trail is a Gradual Ascent and descent through the dense green semi-tropical forest. Reach the campsite and treat yourself to the hardwork with the bonfire and camping dinner.

Day 3: Tshoka

Today’s trek is short but a strenuous uphill climb. Trekkers enjoy the initial part which goes through the thick forest and swinging bridges over small rivers. After crossing the trail climbs towards Bakhim. Bakhim has a forest hut and many trekkers like stay at Bakhim another 2 hours of steep climb and you will the beautiful village of Tshoka. At Tsokha village there are few small shops that also serve hot noodles and a beautiful monastery. The views from Tshoka village will take away your all pain.

Day 4: Tshoka – Dzongri via Phedang

Trek from Tshoka to Dzongri is the highlight of the Goechala trek through a steep climb that starts from the village itself. The initial part of the Goecha la trek is through a well-laid log trail covered in the shadow of thick forest and thick rhododendron forest, once you cross this you suddenly come into an open area, and views of lofty Kanchenjunga peak are amazing. Reach Dzongri and stay in forest huts if available else in tents.

Day 5: Dzongri top and back

Day 6: Dzongri to Lamuney via Kockchurang

After days of uphill trekking in the Himalayas, today will be the descent of around 1000ft and again a climb of 1000ft over 8 Kms in the distance which makes it an enjoyable trek along with the majestic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabru etc.

Day 7: Altitude Lamuney

The trek from Thansing to Lamuney is an easy one. Crossing the meadows and little ascends from Lamuney takes you to the Samiti lake at 14000 ft. Enjoy at samiti lake for some time and return back to Lamuney.

Day 8: Kokchurang to Tshoka via Phedang

Today is the longest day and it’s like a summit day in any expedition. We will start at 3 am early in the morning to make sure that we reach to witness the sunrise from the Goechala pass. Spend some time at Goechala pass enjoying the views of Mt. Pandim on your right and Mt. Kanchenjunga in front and then descend to Lamuney and trek further to reach Kockchurang.

My serious walking career began at the age of 60, when I trekked with Mohan of Namaste Nomad in Ladakh. Since then I have gone back to the Himalayas with him every year: Everest Base Camp, Langtang, Island Peak... Each year I've thought it was as high as I could go, and each year I've come away wanting more. This time I hoped to attain the summit of my ambitions - to climb a 6500 metre mountain, Mera Peak, at the age of 65. Mera, known as the highest trekking peak in the world, was hard. It was steep. It was exhausting. It was wonderful. With the help of Mohan's right-hand-man, Dawa, and Nerbu, a younger sherpa; in the company of three other incredibly supportive Irish trekkers; with the amazing aid of our porters; and with the help, in my case, of copious amounts of oxygen (!), I made it to the very top. Mohan and Dawa always believed in me and did everything in their power to get me to the top. I am immensely proud to have done this, and immensely grateful to Namaste Nomad for giving me the opportunity. Seize the day, people. You are capable of so much more than you think.

Whether you’re a seasoned traveller or just first time adventurer you'll notice when you search on line for somewhere to visit that there are plenty of web sites and travel companies that seem to offer very similar packages, similar routes, similar landscapes all promising the same experience. This is my second time to Himalayas, first time to Everest base camp (with a different Irish Company). I recently travelled to Island Peak with Mohan and Namaste Nomad team. No matter how much research you do regarding a trek the experience will be a unique and personal journey for you, there are a lot of variables to consider. I enjoyed my first experience, however when I compare both treks covering similar routes albeit different destinations I cannot stress how impressed I am with the leadership, professionalism, sincerity, and uniqueness that is offered by Namaste Nomad. From the outset there is trust, honesty, and a deep motivation by Mohan and his team to understand and satisfy your reason for joining an adventure with them. Whether you travel alone (like me), as a couple, or a group of friends you will soon feel part of a wonderful group with the necessary time to oneself and others yet the room to feel like you’re on holiday although you have a mission. They offer great advice from well seasoned experienced staff, your safety and well being are always monitored and cared for, food and accommodation is lovely and varied. The people you meet, the guides and helpers, and the places you visit and stay along the way are easily passed by other tour companies. With our 2018 trek to Island Peak plans had to change due to weather conditions and our itinerary was altered and managed seamlessly by Mohan and his team with coordination with Kathmandu. This unplanned adjustment offered a window to a successful summit for the majority of our party, although we met groups who failed either side of our new summit day including a group of 19 who were left so disappointed. I am a seasoned hiker but this was my first time using ropes and having to complete some technical mountaineering, the training and equipment was provided by Mohan and his team including Dawa J Sherpa (5 time Everest summiteer) all helping to micro manage each group member on the day. The uniqueness offered by Namaste Nomad is that they genuinely care that you get the most from the adventure you choose. Other companies testify to the same but sometimes really it is left up to you to make the most of what they offer, they're running a business however to Mohan and Namaste Nomad it is more than just a business, one experience and you'll understand what I mean. They have set a real benchmark for me.

I had the most amazing experience walking up to EBC and Kala Pattar with Namaste Nomad. Words cannot describe the views and euphoria. The trip couldn't have been any better from beginning to end. We were thoroughly spoilt and taken care of to the highest standards by Dawa our guide and Sudip his assistant. They were both very accommodating, flexible, helpful, polite, knowledgeable and fun to be around. Our porters were efficient and helped ease our pain! The team offered us excellent advice at all times. In preparation for our trip Ashim and his team briefed us at our hotel and answered all of our questions. I would not hesitate in recommending your highly professional team to any friend or family member (RJ from Southampton UK)

Himalayas, they are beautiful, intimidating and challenging. You might think they are perhaps to hard for you? Well, they are hard, but in our everyday life we are often very comfortable. We need to be challenged from time to time to remind ourselves that we are more than our houses, jobs and what others think of us. I needed that break and challenge two years ago. I joined Mohan and his team on the journey to Everest Basecamp. And lets get the boring (but important) stuff out the way. The team is as professional as it gets. We had the nicest food, best accommodation and best guides. Mohan created atmosphere of community and support. I often looked at other groups (that probably payed 2 or 3 times as we did), and they did not had the service and the fun that we did. But apart from all of the pragmatic stuff, they are the Himalayas themselves. My choice was to abandon the internet altogether (its there if you need it) and enjoy being there. For two weeks, the world forgot about me as i forgot about it. All i cared about was walking. It was like a meditation, an it was simple. Just one foot after another until we reached the destination. Mohan does expeditions the way they should be done. He cares about your spirit, what you eat, what you drink, how you sleep. He knows that those things will get you there and help you with the altitude. His team is supportive, and very experienced. I will be a repeat customer one day, and not once.

Travelled to the north of Spain for a week with Mohan from Namaste Nomad - travelled with 2 friends - 12 in total in the group - 12 had such a laugh. Great bunch of people of all age groups. The holiday was fool proof with all activities and meals organised. We age local cuisine with the locals. Truly an amazing holiday and I would highly recommend it. I thought the holiday was so well organised I have decided to travel to Nepal with this company in 2018. Get booking - you wont regret it.

I travelled to Nepal with Namaste Nomad in March 2018 to trek in Langtang Valley. There were eleven in the group, along with Mohan, our guide. We spent a few days in Kathmandu to acclimatise. We visited three Unesco Heritage sites in the city. Then the trek began- an eight hour bus journey to the start of our adventure.. We trekked for eight days in the are which had been devastated by the earthquake in 2015. The trek was exhilarating, sometimes challenging- Mohan reminded us that we were in the Himalayas- always an adventure! He knew what we needed/wanted before we did! The team of sherpas and trainees were really excellent- they sorted our luggage every day... even checking under the beds in case we left anything behind; they cooked our delicious meals & served us- some of us are still dreaming of Dhal Bhat😋! They were at our side before we knew we needed a hand up or down loose rock🙄! After seven days trekking we returned to Kathmandu to wind down. It was a great experience, made special by the attention to detail of Mohan- a birthday party 🎉, a St Patrick's Day celebration to name a few. What a trip! I recommend Namaste Nomad unreservedly & will travel with Mohan again!

I am a professor at George Mason University. Namaste Nomad arranged our study abroad trip to Nepal (Conservation Storytelling). We had used another company the year before and have spent many years in Nepal. This company out performs anyone else in Nepal and anywhere globally. Mohan (the CEO) is extraordinarily knowledgable and works very hard to make sure everything is exactly as you need. The people that work for him are the absolute best available in country. Our guide had led multiple tours up Everest and I 100% trusted him with our lives. Our drivers were the same. In addition, Mohan cares very much about the world, the environment and the ability to share cultures and beliefs. And this is how his company is run. With responsibility and heart.

Just come back from Bhutan and India, had the most amazing time. Mohan looked after us well and always made our travels easy, taking care of everyones needs. I experienced some amazing sights which I do not think I would have on any average tour, we really did see the real India. I am now planning my next trip. Can not recommend them enough.

Incredible trip! My wife and I came from the states to join Mohan and a bunch of wonderful Irish people on an island peak expedition. This was our first exposure to trekking in Nepal and technical mountaineering in general. We are rock climbers and hikers, but we trained extra hard the few months before the trip to develop good fitness and strong legs for long walks uphill. We met Mohan briefly while visiting Ireland a year earlier and felt instantly that we could trust him. Mohan is extremely experienced with trekking in the Himalayas (18yrs I think). He has connections every step of the way from hotels in Kathmandu, to flights to lukla, and in even in tea houses all along the route. This allows him to offer his clients fantastic service at a great price. Nice accommodations and food the whole time - everything is included in the cost up front so the only thing we had to think about was water which we just treated with chlorine tabs. Mohan gives great guidance to help avoid getting sick either from altitude or food. He demands good hygiene from kitchen staff and always sends his Sherpas into the kitchen to help and make sure our food is clean. The whole experience felt like a private trip with friends and not commercially organized. And really that's what it is - no middle man. Mohan genuinely cares about his clients and you will quickly become his friend. He will do everything he can to keep you healthy and acclimatized so you can have the best shot possible at meeting your goal. You won't have to worry about being confused the whole time - he keeps you well informed and is always checking to make sure you are doing well. He even coordinates with a guy in Kathmandu so they can make changes for summit attempts based on weather. Because he did this, we ended up summiting a day earlier than planned which made all the difference - I think nearly everyone failed the day before and the day after us due to snowfall, but we had 5 out of 8 summit in our group thanks to Mohan's leadership. Also if you do island peak - he won't make you walk from base camp to Chukkung after a 12-15 hr summit push, we met several people who after making it back to base camp still had a few hours of walking to get to a lodge and we really felt for them. His Sherpa staff is awesome and Mohan ensures they are well taken care of in addition to the porters/yaks. These Sherpas have more than adequate experience and are some of the kindest people you will ever meet. They even threw me a birthday party with a homemade cake along the way. They are fun, happy, and incredibly humble - always working hard to support their families. They deserve a good tip when the trip is over. Whatever you're looking for in a trek/climb - Mohan is your man. He'll work with you to make it happen. He is a friend for life now and I seriously recommend his guide services. Namaste!
