Yuksom is a nice small hill town in West Sikkim away from the chaos of cities. Yuksum is the starting point of our trek. You will be meeting all your guides, porters and your trek permit will be issued here. If you have one extra day it always good to spend a day here before starting the trek.

Day 2: Yuksom to Sachen

Most of the trekkers reach Tshoka or Bhakim in a day but being the first day of the trek we have another stopover at Sachen. After breakfast starts the Goechala trek to reach Sachen of trekking to reach Sachen approx 7 Kms through thick forest. The trekking trail is a Gradual Ascent and descent through the dense green semi-tropical forest. Reach the campsite and treat yourself to the hardwork with the bonfire and camping dinner.

Day 3: Tshoka

Today’s trek is short but a strenuous uphill climb. Trekkers enjoy the initial part which goes through the thick forest and swinging bridges over small rivers. After crossing the trail climbs towards Bakhim. Bakhim has a forest hut and many trekkers like stay at Bakhim another 2 hours of steep climb and you will the beautiful village of Tshoka. At Tsokha village there are few small shops that also serve hot noodles and a beautiful monastery. The views from Tshoka village will take away your all pain.

Day 4: Tshoka – Dzongri via Phedang

Trek from Tshoka to Dzongri is the highlight of the Goechala trek through a steep climb that starts from the village itself. The initial part of the Goecha la trek is through a well-laid log trail covered in the shadow of thick forest and thick rhododendron forest, once you cross this you suddenly come into an open area, and views of lofty Kanchenjunga peak are amazing. Reach Dzongri and stay in forest huts if available else in tents.

Day 5: Dzongri top and back

The day is to rest as in last three days we almost gain 2700 meters in altitude. Explore the surroundings of the Dzongri trek, Dzongri trek is famous for the views it offers from the Dzongri top. Trekkers go for Dzongri trek at 4 am to capture the first sunrays on Mt Kanchenjunga.

Day 6: Dzongri to Lamuney via Kockchurang

After days of uphill trekking in the Himalayas, today will be the descent of around 1000ft and again a climb of 1000ft over 8 Kms in the distance which makes it an enjoyable trek along with the majestic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Mt. Pandim, Mt. Kabru etc.

Day 7: Altitude Lamuney

The trek from Thansing to Lamuney is an easy one. Crossing the meadows and little ascends from Lamuney takes you to the Samiti lake at 14000 ft. Enjoy at samiti lake for some time and return back to Lamuney.

Day 8: Kokchurang to Tshoka via Phedang

Today is the longest day and it’s like a summit day in any expedition. We will start at 3 am early in the morning to make sure that we reach to witness the sunrise from the Goechala pass. Spend some time at Goechala pass enjoying the views of Mt. Pandim on your right and Mt. Kanchenjunga in front and then descend to Lamuney and trek further to reach Kockchurang.

Day 9: Tshoka to Yuksom via Bhakim and Sachen

Thank you, Namaste Nomad and Mohan, for an epic trekking experience of a lifetime to the Everest Base Camp (EBC).The planning process was straightforward with timely and accurate communication from Mohan. He was quick to answer our questions which inspired great confidence in the company. We knew that we were in good hands.Mohan and his team made every effort to ensure that we were all safe and that everyone achieved their goals of reaching EBC. He documented the trip along the way and posted photos and stories on social media, which was comforting, enjoyable, and informative for family and friends at home. The food is clean, healthy and delicious, and was carefully prepared to provide perfect fuel for our bodies throughout the trek. The company is also very eco-friendly as they bring all plastics and rubbish down the mountain for recycling. While we were enjoying the amazing Himalayas of Nepal, Mohan and his team expertly handled the daily logistics of travel and lodging. Mohan’s familiarity with the region and its ever-changing weather patterns paid off as he was able to adjust our daily treks to maximize the experience and breath-taking views of the Himalayas. He always had a Plan B!And, a big shout-out to the Sherpas who are all skillful climbers and very friendly. The company provides duffle bags for the trekkers which helps ensure that the Sherpas only carry up to 48.5 lbs. each!Namaste Nomad truly cares about their clients and ensures that they get the most out of world-class trek. Highly recommended!

Once in a Life Time Experience

I am a professor at George Mason University. Namaste Nomad arranged our study abroad trip to Nepal (Conservation Storytelling). We had used another company the year before and have spent many years in Nepal. This company out performs anyone else in Nepal and anywhere globally. Mohan (the CEO) is extraordinarily knowledgable and works very hard to make sure everything is exactly as you need. The people that work for him are the absolute best available in country. Our guide had led multiple tours up Everest and I 100% trusted him with our lives. Our drivers were the same. In addition, Mohan cares very much about the world, the environment and the ability to share cultures and beliefs. And this is how his company is run. With responsibility and heart.

Great for Student Learning Trip!

My serious walking career began at the age of 60, when I trekked with Mohan of Namaste Nomad in Ladakh. Since then I have gone back to the Himalayas with him every year: Everest Base Camp, Langtang, Island Peak... Each year I've thought it was as high as I could go, and each year I've come away wanting more. This time I hoped to attain the summit of my ambitions - to climb a 6500 metre mountain, Mera Peak, at the age of 65. Mera, known as the highest trekking peak in the world, was hard. It was steep. It was exhausting. It was wonderful. With the help of Mohan's right-hand-man, Dawa, and Nerbu, a younger sherpa; in the company of three other incredibly supportive Irish trekkers; with the amazing aid of our porters; and with the help, in my case, of copious amounts of oxygen (!), I made it to the very top. Mohan and Dawa always believed in me and did everything in their power to get me to the top. I am immensely proud to have done this, and immensely grateful to Namaste Nomad for giving me the opportunity. Seize the day, people. You are capable of so much more than you think.

My husband and I found out about Namaste Nomad while on a hike in Ireland the year before. We stayed in connect with Mohan and planned going on the Island Peak trek. Being in the USA, all our communication was by email and Mohan answered all of our questions so we felt ready when we flew to Nepal. The trek was incredible. No stress. Mohan dealt with accommodations in Kathmandu and in the Everest Circuit, food the entire trek, flights to and from Lukla, and taxis from the airport. He gave great advice on the hike up, like avoiding dairy and meat and keeping a constant steady pace, so we didn't get sick or hurt before summit day. He was concerned about our well being and wanted us to make it to the summit and be happy as much as we wanted to. His sherpas were incredible men. Humble, sweet, and considerate. You can trust your guides and you will make a great friend at the same time.

I recently returned from a thoroughly enjoyable trek to EBC and Kalapathar. The trip was beyond amazing and a life changing experience. This was all made possible, largely due to our highly organised and very knowledgable Leader Mohan (and his team of local Sherpas and Porters) who educated us on all aspects of life in Nepal including environmental issues which he is very passionate about. Mohan’s attention to detail was second to none, ensuring everyone stayed healthy and safe, while also thoroughly enjoying ourselves. This is the trip of a lifetime with breathtaking views and such cheerful and welcoming locals. We had a fantastic group that supported one another throughout and the craic was brilliant. I would highly recommend travelling with this company and I for one, can’t wait here for my next trekking adventure with them. Thank you Mohan.

After meeting Mohan briefly in Donegal I soon signed up to join him his team and 10 other travellers to trek Nepal's Langtang valley. Best decision ever! From the get go when we all met at Dublin airport the level of organisation and planning Mohan had put into this trip became clear. After hassle free flights Mohan had arranged for a local taxi company to meet us at the airport keeping the group together making for stress travel to the hotel, the hotel selected also was to a high standard with everyone's needs catered to.As part of our trip Mohan had arranged for Cultural shows, dinner booking and buses to Kathmandu's heritage sites including a local guide. Allowing us to make the most of our time in this culturally intriguing city. Then it was on to the trekking bit! after the 8 hour bus journey to the mountains we where treated to dinner cooked that the hotel by our guides and porters this was to be the case daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was excellent and more importantly the level of food hygiene Mohan requires these guys work to more than meets any western standards, out of 11 people no one got any food related sickness unlike some people we met on the way who where travelling with other companies if only for this reason alone I couldn't recommend Namaste Nomad highly enough. While on the trek the scenery was simply stunning where the true beauty of the Himalayas is apparent. Making the trek all the more enjoyable was the level knowledge our guides had on the area, plants and animals, and they where only to happy to impart this on us. While being the real professionals they where also great company through out.For most of the group including myself it was our first team at high altitude, and the focus on everyone's safety from Mohan and team was very evident. Something we all found extremely reassuring allowing you to enjoy the trek knowing that you are in good hands. In turn giving us the confidants to make the optional climb to 4800m an experience that will simply leave you gob smacked with a real sense of achievement. After this we made the trek back down through the valley which was an absolute delight with everyone on a high after what had been an unforgettable experience and achievement. With another couple of days to spend in Kathmandu it was a great way to round off the trip.I have already signed up to trek to Everest base camp in September 2019 and that in it self is properly best recommendation I could possibly give.
