Do you fancy trekking the French Alps among 4,000 m peaks in the footsteps of the early Alpine explorers? The Haute Route was pioneered in 1924 and you can experience it for yourself. French Alps trekking can be just as exotic and adventurous as exploring the Himalaya.
Grab your crampons and ropes and spend a week crossing glaciers and high altitude cols from Chamonix to Zermatt. Immerse yourself in big mountain terrain and hike from refuge to refuge, including the Bertol Hut, which overlooks the Bertol Pass, south of Arolla. Or try the fantastic hiking trails that wind their way up the mountains near the Mont Blanc and criss-cross the national parks. Experience an amazing heaven on earth in the French Alps.
